Have you ever made a record by mistake? After releasing Don't Try, the plan was to hide away and write 100 songs, only the best of which would make it onto the next release. In an effort to stay inspired, I took as many approaches to songwriting as possible. One of those was experimenting with drum machines. As soon as I programmed the beat for the title track the riff came easily, and because I had drifted into my recording software anyway there was no reason not to throw up a mic and record a demo because hey, maybe I could come up with another guitar part or something. So I did, and then of course was curious what it might sound like with bass to fill it out. And wouldn't a freak-out sax solo just tie it all together? I repeated this about six or seven times before I realized I had something. I kept the fun one, the spooky one, the sexy one, and the sentimental one. The saxophone was played by Matt Evans, and the record was mastered by Jason Jaknunas.
